Laithwaites Taste with Laithwaites Broadcast

Family-owned wine company Laithwaite’s, came to us as they wanted a 90-minute lip-smacking broadcast that included loads of interactivity. Whilst pre-recorded it still had to feel live, be cracking fun, informative and on-brand. As well as filming the broadcast, we also were asked to deliver the digital experience for all attendees, as well as the event itself. Our Film Team, Live Team and Digital Teams came together to deliver a seamless experience of laughs, education and of course delicious wines.

Our solution was a Saturday night style chat show entitled, Taste with Laithwaites. Hosted by ultimate wine expert, Oz Clarke, this interactive experience saw an at home wine tasting reach new levels. Even though the broadcast was pre-recorded (to be viewed later by those participating at home) we filmed it in front of a live audience, who injected a lot of energy into the evening. The wine tasting moments took participants on a global journey, as we travelled from Argentina to California, Italy, France and Spain. Peppered with videos from the wine producers, we gave people an inside look at where the wine they were tasting was made.

Filmed at our Studio 212 venue, celebrity guests joined Oz in the studio, bringing banter and frivolity, as well as knowledge, as everyone sipped their way through the stonking liquids. Remote attendees joined in with their bespoke sample packs - which were letterbox friendly - and they even had a heads up on what food pairings worked best, and were encouraged to purchase in advance of the broadcast to heighten the experience even more.

The at home audience was able to chat among themselves about the wines, “a deviously silky drop” or “scrummy notes of pear,” via a portal run by our Digital Team, which brought everyone together.

Taste with Laithwates went down a treat (much like the wines) and everyone who joined in, whether live or at home, thoroughly loved the variety the format allowed. We continue our work with Laithwaites and await our next exciting venture.
