Our clients HS2 Ltd, the company building Britain’s new high-speed railway, have had a golden success at the esteemed Communicate Lens Awards. The collaborative efforts between us both has resulted with victory in two significant categories and the overall win; Gold Award for Best Employer Brand Video; Gold Award for Best Use of Video from the Transport & Logistics Sector; and Winner of Best Video of the Year.

This recognition underscores the creativity and dedication demonstrated by in delivering impactful storytelling and fostering inclusivity through film.

At the heart of this triumph stands ‘Katrina's Story,’ an emotionally resonant portrayal of courage, authenticity, and the pursuit of a more inclusive world. Crafted collaboratively by HS2 Ltd and us, the film showcases the remarkable journey of Katrina, a transgender woman, within the construction industry.

Over 30,000 people are working on HS2, and the film is part of HS2’s efforts to promote careers in construction, as it delivers Britain's biggest build. Work is well advanced on the new high-speed railway between London and the West Midlands, which will provide zero-carbon travel, boost railway capacity and support economic growth.

Katrina commented: “This industry historically has a reputation of not being a wholly safe space for LGBTQ+ individuals. But HS2 and its construction partners have strong ally networks that enable everyone to bring their whole selves to work.”

Jane Jones, Senior Account Relationship Director at DRPG, emphasised the collaborative spirit behind the video, stating, "Working closely with the HS2 Brand & Creative and Campaigns teams, we were granted a unique opportunity to magnify Katrina's voice and authentically depict her journey. This partnership allowed us to delve deeply into Katrina's experiences, ensuring that every aspect of her story was portrayed with the utmost sincerity. Together, our teams embarked on a collective journey toward greater empathy, acceptance, and understanding.”

Vic, El Bast, Head of Brand and Creative at HS2, commented: “My in-house team were delighted to work with our extended team at DRPG to produce authentic, impactful visual storytelling that evidences how HS2 is creating a legacy and which provides hope and inspiration for individuals navigating similar paths.”
