So, Tesco wanted to help colleagues understand more about mental health, how to spot the signs of issues early, how to have a conversation about it and how to find help. We created Behind the Smile, a series where Tesco employees shared their personal experiences with mental health struggles, from postnatal depression to suicidal thoughts. By highlighting authentic, real-life stories, the campaign brought a human touch to the conversation, encouraging colleagues to connect and talk openly about mental health in a way they hadn’t before. Behind the Smile has become a powerful, evergreen resource that continues to help remove stigma and drive important discussions. The content has strengthened Tesco’s mental health support initiatives, empowering colleagues to look out for one another and building a more supportive, open workplace culture.
