Turner & Townsend is a global consultancy business serving clients in the real estate, infrastructure and natural resources sectors. With 100 sites in 45 countries, the business employs over 6,000 people. It was our job to help those team members better understand and avoid cybersecurity threats.
After a rise in phishing attacks and data security breaches, the business wanted to grow awareness and provide employees with all the information they needed to avoid them. We were keen to make sure that information was actually seen, engaged with and taken on board. This is what we came up with.
We started with research. After learning more about cyber-attacks, and the key failures that allow them to happen, we saw that most stem from simple mistakes. That’s where our ‘Don’t get caught out’ message grew from - the understanding that falling for a cyber-attack only takes a few moments of distraction.
To get that message across with real impact, we created a full campaign to be shared with every Turner & Townsend employee globally. Assets included videos, posters, infographics, digital media and emails, and all highlighted how easy it is for criminals to infiltrate IT networks.
A film featuring the business’ COO was a real hero piece. Deliberately blunt, it revealed how sophisticated attacks can be and saw instant engagement from endless employees.
We received plenty of ‘shocked’ but positive reactions and, according to Turner & Townsend, the entire campaign really did its job. Now our assets have found a new life at Turner & Townsend and are being integrated into cyber security training – talk about bang for your buck!
