Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) is one of the world’s largest and most recognised premium automotive manufacturers. With a rich British heritage and specialised vehicles that have become famous in their own right, JLR blends traditional design with cutting-edge technologies to deliver an incredible experience to its customers.
JLR was transitioning to Microsoft Office 365 and needed to ensure that its employees had the correct training and support to achieve a smooth roll-out. However, the strain that comes with educating tens of thousands of employees could not fall on JLR’s IT function, so it needed a different approach to field support and upskilling.
We carried out an in-depth analysis of JLR’s existing IT training capabilities and systems and came to the conclusion that the most effective way of delivering the Office 365 migration was to upskill internal ‘champions’, who would receive additional training on Office 365 before sharing it with their communities within JLR. After creating an easy-to-digest curriculum that covered every key aspect of getting set-up on the new Office 365 systems, we rolled-out a global training event at our UK headquarters. We invited 1,000 JLR ‘champions’ to join us for a full week of training sessions, workshops and interactive demonstrations, swapping classroom-based tutorials for kinaesthetic learning that encouraged the JLR ‘champions’ to interact with each other in order to boost their Office 365 knowledge and general IT skills. After the training event, ‘champions’ then returned to their respective business areas and are now helping colleagues with basic troubleshooting and Office 365 teething problems.
