We are to proud to announce that we are the latest partner in next summer’s penguin parade being brought to the city by St Richard’s Hospice. After playing a key role in the hospice’s giraffe and elephant trails, we will also act as an official supplier to the great Waddle of Worcester.

A DRPG penguin sculpture will be brought to life by an artist’s design and auctioned at the end of the project to raise vital funds for the free, ongoing care and support offered by St Richard’s Hospice to people with a serious progressive illness and their loved ones.

Local artists have two months to submit penguin designs before applications close on 8 January 2024.

Speaking about our involvement in the great Waddle of Worcester, our CEO Dale Parmenter said: “Worcester’s art trails are fantastic events for the county and for a really brilliant cause, so we are very proud to be playing a part once again. We look forward to contributing to what is sure to be another unforgettable summer and something for us all to look forward to.”

The great Waddle of Worcester builds on two hugely successful hospice-run trails in 2018 and 2021 which raised £700,000 combined.

Sara Matthews, Business Development Manager at St Richard’s, said: “We’re excited to have our friends at DRPG on board as a partner and official supplier once again after their wonderful support for the giraffes and elephants.

“Many trail goers will remember DRPG’s incredible ‘Elephant in the Room’ digital installation which helped us shine a light on mental health in 2021 and has since won a number of awards. We can’t wait to get working with the team again to bring some more magic to our much-loved art trails.”

Alongside 40 large penguins, the summer 2024 art trail will feature a collection of 40 chicks decorated by schools and community groups and displayed through city shop windows and Crowngate Shopping Centre. While all baby penguins have now been adopted by local schools and community groups, there is still time to sponsor a large penguin. The great Waddle of Worcester is supported by Presenting Partners; Crowngate, DRPG, Worcester City Council and Worcestershire Ambassadors, Community and Education Partner; Worcester BID and Media Partners; the Worcester News and BBC Hereford & Worcester.
