JavaScript Engineer

UK (Opportunity to work remotely within the UK)
Reporting to:
Head of Development


Work with the digital team to create cutting edge digital solutions for exciting high profile clients like EE, Jaguar Land Rover, Sainsbury’s, Lloyds Banking Group. Play a part in the direction of the JavaScript team, using your technical expertise and experience to guide and develop best practice and improve efficiency and quality. Keep your finger on the pulse and identify new technologies and concepts that will benefit the department. Share your skills with other team members and take responsibility for their technical development.

Principle duties

  • Develop digital applications using JavaScript / TypeScript.
  • Lead JavaScript development on medium and large projects.
  • Create technical requirements from client briefs.
  • Provide consultancy and innovative solutions to problems.
  • Contribute to the direction of the JavaScript team.
  • Mentor less experienced team members.

  • Writing clean, performant JavaScript and TypeScript, primarily using React.
  • Creating mobile first, responsive, cross-browser experiences, with a focus on performance.
  • Creating cross platform, native applications for mobile devices with React Native.
  • Experience writing tests for your code with frameworks like Jest.
  • Experience with CSS pre-processors such as Less and Sass.
  • Experience of tooling such as Webpack, Babel.
  • Experience working in a similar position.

Skills / characteristics

  • Familiarity with other JavaScript libraries such as ThreeJS.
  • Comfortable using version control (Git).
  • Passionate about creating cool digital things.
  • Can work well in a team.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and develop professionally to help further the team.
  • Positive attitude towards challenging situations and multi-tasking.
  • Good time management skills involving the ability to estimate accurately the time required to complete digital projects.
  • Attention to detail and pride in your work.
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to work and communicate with and translate digital solutions to non-IT personnel.
  • Must be committed to making ‘anything possible’ with a ‘can do’ attitude.


Other requirements

  • A full clean drivers license is essential as part of this role, it is your responsibility to ensure your insurance provides ‘Business use’ in order to claim mileage.

At all times you must work within the guidelines set out in the DRPG’s Information Security Policy and your Employee Confidentiality Agreement. Failure to do so may be treated as gross misconduct.

Further notes

The role will be UK based and may require travel to office locations around the UK. You will be expected to work flexibly and undertake other related commercial duties both in the UK and overseas as the company may from time to time reasonably require.
