IT Support Technician

Purpose

You will be responsible for assisting in the designing, testing, implementing and monitoring of security measures for the Group and its systems. You will also provide support and assistance to all users across the business and to administer our expanding IT & Communications.

Principle duties

PRINCIPLE DUTIES – SECURITY SPECIALIST

  • Ensure the company’s systems align with both the ISO27001, Cyber Essentials certification’ and any other industry related accreditation we align with
  • Analyse and establish security requirements for DRP’s systems/networks
  • Defend systems against unauthorised access, modification and/or destruction
  • Configure and support security tools such as firewalls, anti-virus software, and patch management systems
  • Define access privileges, control structures and resources
  • Perform vulnerability testing using Nessus and other tools and undertake risk analyses and security assessments
  • Identify abnormalities and report violations
  • Oversee and monitor routine security administration
  • Knowledge share with other team members in security awareness, protocols and procedures
  • Design and conduct security audits to ensure operational security
  • Respond in a timely manner to security incidents and provide post-incident analysis
  • Research and recommend security upgrades
  • To provide assistance and guidance for junior support technicians
  • Liaise with 3rd parties when required
  • Input into ad-hoc projects when required
  • To provide support when technicians are on annual leave, busy or when required to as per the requirements of the business: This will include but not limited too.
  • To provide general 2nd line support to users in the business via phone, email and remote connections
  • Administration and support of phone systems
  • Administration and support of Network Devices
  • Administration and support of Windows Server 2008/2016
  • Administration and support of Microsoft Exchange server 2010
  • Hardware/Software fault finding and resolution
  • System builds/software installations and configuration

 

PRINCIPLE DUTIES – DATA PROTECTION

  • To inform and advise team members about obligations to comply with the GDPR and other data protection laws.
  • To monitor compliance with the GDPR and other data protection laws, and with DRPG data protection polices, including managing internal data protection activities, raising awareness of data protection issues, training team members and conducting internal audits.
  • To advise on, and to monitor, data protection impact assessments;
  • To cooperate with the supervisory authority; and
  • To be the first point of contact for supervisory authorities and for individuals whose data is processed (employees, customers etc).

This list is not exhaustive, and you will be expected to work flexibly and undertake other such duties as the management may, from time to time, reasonably require.

Experience

  • Security+: CompTIA’s base-level security certification
  • Experience of managing corporate security solutions such as AV / DLP / Firewalls & Routers
  • An understanding of ISO27001:2013 ISMS and Cyber Essentials standards
  • Detailed Knowledge and Understanding of GDPR and its implementation
  • 5+ Years of working hands-on experience being a System Administrator

  • Able to travel throughout the UK and overseas

Further notes

The role will be based primarily in our Worcestershire head office. There will be times when this role will require you to work from the company’s other offices. You will be expected to work flexibly and undertake other related commercial duties both in the UK and overseas as the company may from time to time reasonably require.
