DevOps Technician

Principle Infrastructure Engineer
Purpose
You will work closely with our team of DevOps engineers to ensure the integrity of our infrastructure and manage the lifecycle of project applications, domains, SSL certificates, servers and project data within the team and business.
Principle duties
- Support the Digital team with the management of applications on our infrastructure, including actioning hosting and de-hosting requests for projects to meet deadlines
- Process and manage requests for new domain names, SSL certificates and other supporting components
- Ensure that the infrastructure and data is catalogued correctly, and all asset management systems are kept accurate and up to date
- Coordinate renewals of products including domains, servers and infrastructure components with the DevOps and Project Management team and working with external suppliers and contractors
- Reviewing applications and infrastructure for compliance and auditing purposes (with guidance from DevOps engineers), and actioning outcomes from those activities (e.g., backing up, migrating or deleting data/applications)
- Provide basic support for the above duties in our ticketing and support system for the wider team
- Have your finger on the pulse of DevOps and be aware of new technologies and concepts that will benefit the team, and suggest improvements or optimisations to systems, processes and procedures
This list is not exhaustive, and you will be expected to work flexibly and undertake other such duties as the management may, from time to time, reasonably require.
Experience
- Experience (educational, vocational or hobbyist) in IT and an interest in managing hosting infrastructure, data and systems
- A basic knowledge of a Linux operating system
- A basic knowledge of a command line interface and navigating systems
- A basic knowledge of infrastructure components such as servers, domains, DNS, SSL certificates, servers and firewalls
Skills / Characteristics
DESIRABLE SKILLS
- Use or understanding of Nginx webserver configuration
- Use or understanding of a database system such as MySQL, MariaDB or PostgreSQL
- Understanding of networking skills such as DNS records and IP addresses
- Use or understanding of a programming or scripting language - particularly PHP

- Able to travel throughout the UK and overseas

The role can be performed from our Hartlebury, Manchester or Windsor Offices. Remote working may also be considered. You will be expected to work flexibly and undertake other related commercial duties both in the UK and overseas as the company may from time to time reasonably require.At all times, you must work within the guidelines set out in DRPG’s Health & Safety Policy and Employee Manual.
