Creative Content Writer

Reporting to:
Senior Copy Manager


Your primary focus is to be a creative copywriter who can fully immerse themselves in a subject, before creating a grade A piece of content that makes the reader care about what they’ve just read. From straplines to long form articles, you’ll be an all-rounder who can jump into new subjects and master them quickly. You’ll interpret creative content direction and copy briefs, producing compelling and error-free content that follows the client’s style guidelines and builds engagement. You’ll propose creative copy concepts and, manage multiple projects to deadline. You’ve got the creative and conceptual flair of a copywriter, with the instinctive storytelling ability of a news reporter. You’ve got high standards of quality and accuracy, and you spotted the deliberate typo in the previous sentence.

Principle duties

  • Deliver content that is on strategy across all media (social, mobile, DM, print, web, TV, radio, etc)
  • Work alongside account teams, creatives and clients to produce content creation that fits the brief
  • Ensure the copy you develop supports and enhances the creative ideas and concepts
  • Present work coherently and persuasively; express ideas in a form that client (both internal and external) can buy and support
  • Write in multiple voices and styles
  • Run training / workshops for clients
  • Read client information, extensively research and perform other pre-production tasks
  • Maintain communication and relationships between Writing and all areas of the group
  • Be aware of the impact that your work may have on your own and other on-going projects/campaigns for a particular client. This includes awareness of others and their involvement in a project
  • Ensure suitable communication / updates are being provided to internal and external clients on project status
  • Be active in client meetings
  • Make content work well across all channels
  • Produce on-brand, on-budget content
  • Be cool about working on many projects at the same time
  • Work collaboratively with creative, strategic, design and the rest of the DRPG team
  • Understand clients’ needs and keep them happy with gorgeous work and great communication
  • Inspire creativity and present work that makes your audiences swoon

  • Be tuned into the ever-changing world around you, from business to tech, from politics to popular culture

  • Must have tonnes of similar experience
  • Knowledge of B2B and B2C
  • Outstanding writing and grammar chops with refined proofreading and editing skills
  • Strong comprehension of best practices for copy across all touch points
  • You should be able to articulately demonstrate a portfolio that showcases your copywriting process, an excellent writing aesthetic, and expertise in writing for all channels
  • The ability to proof both your own work and the work of others

  • Extremely creative, able to present and pursue projects from concept to execution
  • Extremely passionate about writing and reader experience and a strong advocate
  • You can expertly defend copy decisions with evidence and research
  • You can manage your time and have a proven delivery record
  • You work confidently, collaboratively and closely with creatives, designers, developers and account managers to ensure copy meets both business and client requirements

  • Current full UK driving license

Further notes

The role will be based primarily in our Worcestershire head office and will require regular travel to other office locations. You will be expected to work flexibly and undertake other related commercial duties both in the UK and overseas as the company may from time to time reasonably require.
