drpteam Runs For Charity
On Sunday 27th April, two teams from the drpgroup put themselves to the test. One team ran a 10K race, kicking off the start of Hotelympia which is taking place at ExCel for the next 4 days. It’s a uniquely social environment, and brings together the broadest range of future trends, fresh talent and new ideas to help the UK foodservice and hospitality industry push the boundaries of quality, innovation and sustainability. The 10K run provided the opening to the event. Just up the road in Warwickshire, near Leamington Spa, another 6 drpteam members were preparing for an even more challenging race - the Wolf Run.
A team of 7 drpteam members took part in the Hotelympia 10K run and all finished the race with exceptional times. This event is a key fundraiser for the Springboard UK Charity, helping young, unemployed and disadvantaged people to improve their prospects for economic well-being. Dale Parmenter, Group MD, ran the Hotelympia 10K race. Now recovering he said, “It’s always great to support a charity when we can. We work very closely with the Springboard UK charity and have taken part in many of their organised events. There is a lot of pride apparent when the team come together. Although we’re one big team it’s always nice to have the different departments mixing together to form a new team, facing a new challenge and there’s always genuine support for each other. A fantastic achievement by all and another example of the team delivering our anything’s possible promise and challenging themselves.”
The Wolf run is a wild running race with a combination of mud runs, trail runs and obstacle runs, completed over a total distance of 10K. This race is one that tests your mental and physical stamina and is not for the faint hearted. All 6 drpteam members completed the race and helped each other through. Both teams gave 100% in completing their races
The anything’s possible team are well on their way to achieving their £1000 target. There is still time to sponsor the teams at our Just Giving page. Every pound is greatly appreciated and goes towards supporting some of the UK’s most disadvantaged individuals find long-term, sustainable employment.
