drp Abseil Raises Funds for Charity
With the 35th Anniversary celebrations fast approaching, the drpteam has completed another of its 35 CSR projects for 35 years in business. This challenge tested the team’s ability to conquer their fear of heights while also raising an impressive £1,753.94 for the Springboard Charity.
Five members of the drpteam raised the funds with support from friends, family and the industry before abseiling down the UK’s tallest sculpture, the ArcelorMittal Orbit, which stands at a staggering 114.5 metres high. Each abseiler completed the impressive solo descent and made it to the bottom unscathed. The funds raised go direct to one of drp’s long-standing charity partners, Springboard UK, which helps alleviate poverty by supporting disadvantaged and underprivileged people into sustainable employment within hospitality, leisure and tourism.
Jane Jones, Director of Project Management at drp was the first to abseil and when discussing her experience said, “I love the adrenalin rush you get from these types of activities, so when I was asked to complete the challenge on behalf of Springboard UK, I didn’t want to miss out. Once I was on the platform, looking out across the Olympic Park, I just knew I had to get on with it and try not to think about the height too much. It was a thoroughly enjoyable experience and an even better one knowing that, as a team, we raised a fantastic amount of money for the Springboard Charity. I’m looking forward to our next challenge!”
We’ve already been able to complete over 20 of our 35 CSR projects on the way toward our 35th Anniversary celebrations and a whole host of activities are planned as we approach the milestone in June. Each project is chosen by the team themselves, with projects close to their hearts a priority to ensure every challenge we complete, project we carry out or cause we support is meaningful and relevant to us. Watch this space as some of the biggest challenges are just around the corner and our team will need the help and support of our friends, clients and industry peers to raise money for some extremely worthwhile causes.
