Merry Christmas from DRPG

Well, what can I say, 2018 has flown by… It only seems like yesterday I was writing last year’s message, looking forward to what 2018 will bring. As always, growth was on the agenda, but I certainly didn’t predict the scale of what 2018 had in store.

It seems only right to start with our most important asset, our people. Year on year, the drpteam delivers astounding results for our clients. We’ve all been through some busy periods throughout this year, but when times have become challenging, we’ve all pulled together and delivered against our ‘anything’s possible’ ethos. And naturally we’ve grown because of this, ending the year with a 280 strong team and a 47% growth in revenue, taking us to £31M for 2018. So, thank you to each and every team member for their ongoing dedication and hard work.

As well as organic growth in the team, earlier in the year, we acquired communication agency HMX. The team deliver a wide-range of projects primarily into the professional services sector and is the perfect cultural fit for the group.

In the November just gone, we also announced a partnership with German marketing agency Kammann Rossi. The agreement, which will create further global collaboration, entails a comprehensive joint portfolio of services for clients’ international corporate communications needs. We’re very much looking forward to seeing this partnership grow into 2019 and beyond.

In last year’s message, I spoke about the launch of our drp Academy, bringing together all the great team development initiatives under one umbrella. Taking this to the next step, Jez Light joined us as Learning & Development Manager, who has launched many brilliant initiatives and training schemes for the whole drpteam.

We’ve continued to invest in technology and facilities, this includes the start of our new motion graphics, digital design and team wellbeing centre. Building work has just commenced on this £1.5M project which will be completed by summer 2019.

We’ve further developed our external client educational programme, adding our first drptalk live webinar earlier in the year. 60 drptalk blogs and 3 drptalk dinners, as well as hosting our third drpbigtalk in September to a record-breaking 130+ clients, which saw a variety of expert speakers provide comms insight. Callum Gill, our head of insight and innovation, has presented at a record number of events and helped our clients understand future trends and innovations.

Throughout the year, there have been so many moments to remember, too many to include. One that particularly stands out, for me, is the visit of His Royal Highness the Duke of Gloucester to our Midlands HQ. Falling on the day of drpbigtalk, His Royal Highness was able to tour our studio complex and experience some of the projects our team have produced, as well as seeing the start of drpbigtalk.

Again, we’ve had a successful year winning a total of thirty awards across all our areas. As well as multiple accolades in the UK, we have been triumphant further afield. Namely, in the USA at the New York TV & Film Awards, and in Cannes for the Cannes Corporate Media Awards. For me, this is something I’m extremely proud of, to come out on top against some of worlds top agencies, is a real achievement for the team.

Importantly, we have also found time to carry on our great work with CSR. The team have been involved in a staggering 33 community projects and helped to raise a combined total of £570,000.00. And finally, once again, we were awarded the highest accolade with IS020121 and IS014001.
