HS2 is a new high-speed railway that will stretch from London to Manchester, forming the backbone of Britain's transformed transport network. As part of the project, HS2 is creating a Green Corridor. Running alongside the railway, the clever green space has been designed to create a network of climate resilient habitats and open spaces for people to enjoy.
To really showcase the benefits of this project, HS2 wanted to bring the Green Corridor to life using motion graphics. Our team stepped up to the challenge.
We knew from the offset that the video needed to excite, inspire and inform a wide array of stakeholders including councils, MPs, communities, charitable local organisations looking for funding and natural environment stakeholders. It needed to feel timeless and be accessible. And it had to work across endless channels in both long and short cuts. To satisfy all, and create a video that felt fresh and imaginative, we opted for realism.
Our vision was of the Green Corridor fully grown, packed full of wildlife and being enjoyed by people from all walks of life. We set out just that in a detailed storyboard. We imagined woodlands, rare creatures, green tunnels, community projects, cycle routes and more. We included moments that showed HS2’s commitment to repairing and replenishing the space, and we showed it all in the space of just one day.
This is a place that will be alive with activity – our ‘life in a day’ approach revealed just how much there was to celebrate in HS2’s Green Corridor. In highly detailed and realistic animation, we built a full environment and characters viewers could connect with. A voice over worked with the visuals to explain how the Green Corridor will conserve and replenish natural areas to support nature recovery.
The film sparked emotion and prompted interaction across social media. It left audiences feeling positive about the future and wowed the HS2 team. We were brought into this project to help HS2 showcase the environmental legacy it will leave for future generation. This film brought that legacy right into the spotlight.
