Communications Campaign - Technology
The organisation
RS Components is a leading distributor of electronic, electrical and industrial components, operating via e-commerce, catalogues and trade counters.
The brief
The campaign’s aim was to provide a way of activating RS Components’ vision of a digital future for school children, families and the public. As part of their business-wide commitment to national tech literacy, we looked to provide a way to demonstrate that the future lies not only in the headline-grabbing software, but also in the hardware which has driven the digital revolution for two decades.
The solution
We created a hugely ambitious bespoke mobile exhibition unit, built inside an articulated vehicle that was deployed nationally. The unit had multiple interactive areas and applicable technologies that inspired and engaged visitors with an array of technology that RS Components provides. As part of the campaign, we also delivered a communications and branding exercise around the project, developing the instantly recognisable brand identity under the tagline ‘It’s On!’. Inside the vehicle, five zones combining VR, AR and photo recognition were created, each explaining the benefits and importance of engineering knowledge and design in hardware. We utilised the nimble and versatile Raspberry Pi system (RS Components provides the majority of components which make the device).
The results
The exhibition unit and wider campaign was well received, with more interactions with RS Components as well as a better understanding of its purpose and future vision for both staff and the public.
